JLPT N3 - Grammar ๐ŸŒŸ ใšใค zutsu

Japanese particle โ€œใ€œใšใคโ€ (zutsu) labeled N3 on an orange background, used to indicate distribution or doing something in equal amounts (e.g., โ€œone by one,โ€ โ€œeachโ€).

Imagine you’re at a cute Japanese bakery.
There are so many pastries that you just can’t choose… so you tell the staff you want one of each.

Or maybe you’re studying Japanese and you decide
“I’ll learn five new words every day little by little.”

That “one at a time” or “little by little” feeling is exactly where today’s grammar shines!

Today we’re learning ใšใค (zutsu). It’s a super useful N3 expression that means “each,” “apiece,” “at a time,” or “little by little.”

It’s perfect for talking about equal amounts, sharing things fairly, or describing gradual progress, like improving your Japanese step by step.
Whether you’re breaking tasks into small pieces or giving instructions to a group, ใšใค helps you express that smooth, steady, one-by-one rhythm.

Ready to take this grammar point one step at a time? Let’s go!

ใŠใใซ (oki ni) vs ใšใค (zutsu)
Both expressions involve repetition, but the "space" they describe is different!

ใŠใใซ (oki ni)
ใŠใใซ focuses on the interval or the gap between events. It means "at intervals of" or "every other."
