Is there intention or effort? If yes, it is purpose.
Use のために to show what you are working toward or trying to achieve.

Are you explaining a fact or situation? If yes, it is reason or cause.
Use のために to explain why something happened.

ように（youni） vs ために (tame ni)
Both ように and ために can be translated as “in order to,” but the key difference is how much control you have over the action.

ように (you ni)
ように is used for results, abilities, or changes that you cannot fully control.
It focuses on a desired outcome rather than a direct action.

日本語が話せるように、毎日練習します。
にほんご が はなせる ように、まいにち れんしゅう します。
nihongo ga hanaseru youni, mainichi renshuu shimasu.
I practice every day so that I can speak Japanese.

ために (tame ni)
ために is used for goals and actions you can control with intention and effort.
