たとえ〜ても (tatoe 〜 temo)
Both いくら〜ても and たとえ〜ても mean “even if” or “no matter what,” but their nuance is slightly different.

いくら〜ても emphasizes degree or amount, how much, how often, or how strongly something happens.

たとえ〜ても focuses on hypothetical situations, “even if it happens.”

いくら説明しても、彼はわかってくれない。
いくら せつめい しても、かれ は わかって くれない。
ikura setsumei shite mo, kare ha wakatte kurenai.
No matter how many times I explain it, he doesn’t understand.

たとえ説明しても、彼はわからないだろう。
たとえ せつめい しても、かれ は わからない だろう。
tatoe setsumei shite mo, kare ha wakaranai darou.

いくら寝ても眠いんです。
