It is a sophisticated expression that means "along with," "as," or "in proportion to." It is perfect for describing two things that are linked together. When one moves, the other moves too.

につれて (ni tsurete) vs に従って(にしたがって/ni shitagatte) vs に伴って (にともなって/ni tomonatte)
These three all describe changes happening together, but the nuance of "how" they happen is different.

につれて (ni tsurete)
につれて is for natural, automatic changes. It feels like B happens naturally just because A is happening.

台風が近づくにつれて、雨が強くなってきた。
たいふうがちかづくにつれて、あめがつよくなってきた。
たいふう ga chikazuku ni tsurete, ame ga tsuyoku natte kita.
As the typhoon approached, the rain naturally became stronger.

に従って (にしたがって/ni shitagatte)
に従って focuses on a gradual progression or a set order. It’s like following a scale or a path step-by-step.

北へ行くに従って、紅葉がきれいになる。
きたへいくにしたがって、こうようがきれいになる。
kita he iku ni shitagatte, kouyou ga kirei ni naru.
As you go north (step by step), the autumn leaves become beautiful.

に伴って (にともなって/ni tomonatte)
に伴って emphasizes that B is a direct result or a "set" that is linked to A. It is often used for one-time social changes or large-scale events.

メールの普及に伴って、手紙を書く習慣が減った。
めーるのふきゅうにともなって、てがみをかくしゅうかんがへった。
me-ru no fukyuu ni tomonatte, tegami wo kaku shuukan ga hetta.
Along with the spread of email, the habit of writing letters decreased.

時代の変化に伴って、人々の働き方も多様化してきた。
じだい の へんか に ともなって、ひとびと の はたらきかた も たようか してきた。
jidai no henka ni tomonatte, hitobito no hatarakikata mo tayouka shitekita.
Along with the change of the times, people's ways of working have become more diverse.

人口が減少するに伴って、労働力不足が問題になっている。
じんこう が げんしょう する に ともなって、ろうどうりょく ぶそく が もんだい に なっている。
jinkou ga genshou suru ni tomonatte, roudouryoku busoku ga mondai ni natteiru.
Along with the decrease in population, labor shortage is becoming a problem.

日本語レベルの上達に伴い、マンガを買いすぎて銀行の残高が減っていく。
にほんご れべる の じょうたつ に ともない、まんが を かいすぎて ぎんこう の ざんだか が へっていく。
nihongo reberu no joutatsu ni tomonai, manga wo kaisugite ginkou no zandaka ga hetteiku.

じぎょう の かくだい に ともない、あたらしく ごめい の すたっふ を さいよう する こと に した。
jigyou no kakudai ni tomonai, atarashiku gomei no sutaffu wo saiyou suru koto ni shita.

景気が悪化するに伴い、企業の倒産件数が増加している。
けいき が あっか する に ともない、きぎょう の とうさん けんすう が ぞうか している。
keiki ga akka suru ni tomonai, kigyou no tousan kensuu ga zouka shiteiru.

にゅうごく に ともなう てつづき を はやめ に すませて ください。
nyuugoku ni tomonau tetsuzuki wo hayame ni sumasete kudasai.
Please complete the procedures accompanying entry into the country early.

この週末は、大規模なイベントに伴う交通規制が実施される予定だ。
この しゅうまつ は、だいきぼ な いべんと に ともなう こうつう きせい が じっし される よてい だ。
kono shuumatsu ha, daikibo na ibento ni tomonau koutsuu kisei ga jisshi sareru yotei da.
This weekend, traffic restrictions accompanying a large scale event are scheduled to be implemented.
