JLPT N1 - Grammar ๐ŸŒŸ ใชใใ—ใฆใฏ nakushiteha

Japanese grammar pattern โ€œใ€œใชใใ—ใฆใฏโ€ (nakushite wa) labeled N1 on a dark gray background, used to express that something cannot happen or exist without something else (โ€œwithoutโ€ฆ, cannotโ€ฆโ€).

There are some things in life we simply can’t do without, right?
Like... coffee on Monday mornings, or Wi-Fi when you’re traveling!

In Japanese, when you want to express that something is absolutely necessary in order to achieve or maintain something else, you can use ใชใใ—ใฆใฏ (nakushite ha).

It’s an N1 grammar point used to emphasize that without X, Y cannot happen.
This structure often appears in formal speech, writing, and motivational contexts, like speeches, essays, or even emotional quotes.

Let’s explore how to use ใชใใ—ใฆใฏ to sound natural, confident, and even a little philosophical in Japanese!

ใชใ‘ใ‚Œใฐ (nakereba) , ใชใ„ใจ(naito)
These are more casual and common ways to say “if not / without doing.”
They simply show condition, without the strong essential requirement nuance of ใชใใ—ใฆใฏ.
